There's a moment from college I keep coming back to.
I was reading Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, and Epictetus, and something hit me. These people lived over two thousand years ago. No internet, no modern anything. And yet they understood human life better than almost anyone I'd read from today.
That felt strange to me. Why weren't more people talking about this?
I started looking for philosophy products, something physical, something that made these ideas feel real and tangible. I found almost nothing. For ideas that shaped the entire Western world, philosophy had basically no presence in everyday life.
That felt like a gap worth filling.
I also love getting mail. Real mail. There's something about opening your mailbox and finding something that was made for you that nothing digital can replicate. It's a lost art.
So I put the two together. What if philosophy arrived as a letter? Printed on real paper, sealed with wax, addressed to you personally.
That's Philosophy Delivered.
The philosophers we forget about are still shaping our lives, whether we realize it or not. The way you think about happiness, justice, and how to live traces back to people like Aristotle, Plato, and the Stoics. Their ideas became so embedded in our culture that we stopped noticing them. They became the water we swim in.
A true philosopher doesn't make simple things complicated. They do the opposite. They take the hardest questions about life and make them clear and human. That's what drew me to the ancients. They weren't writing for academics. They were writing for people trying to figure out how to live.
That's what Philosophy Delivered is for. One philosopher, one letter, every month. Printed on archival paper, sealed with wax, sent to your door.
Milan Manesh is the founder of Philosophy Delivered and a philosophy graduate of Oregon State University.
